Louise Dunne's Top 5 Kit Essentials
I love to have a light weight foundation in my kit. As an ex-MAC girl and full-time MAC addict I'm loving their latest foundation called 'Next to Nothing'. It really does look and feel exactly like skin! It gives coverage without the cakiness. What I really love about it is the ability it gives you to build. On its own it gives a sheer, natural finish. If it is mixed with studio fix it gives a stunning Insta-filter effect and the product is also suitable for for all ages. Ive been wearing 'Next to Nothing' into the office for a more natural look and I recently did my mother's make up and it was perfect for her skin too. This is a new must have for my kit.
2. Eye Pencils
i find it great to have a mix of eye pencils in my kit. Lately I have been finding myself reusing the same key products over and over again. A good black and a brown. My go-to have been MAC 'Feline' for the darkest black kohl ever, great for a smouldering look above the eye and Charlotte Tilbury Rock and Kohl in 'Barbarella brown'. What I love about these pencils is that they melt into the skin give a really soft sultry eye definition. This makes a refreshing change from the classic feline flick.
3. I love undereye concealer! MAC have an amazing array of concealers of different textures. Personally, I love MAC moisture cover as it's super hydrating underneath the eye area . Another really good option is the Catrice Liquid Camouflage concealer. If you are on a budget the PS by Penneys range is also great and a handy one for your personal makeup bag too.
Every time I have left do to a freelance job or a wedding I have always had the panic of 'did I remember lashes', or worse, do I have duo glue?! Gone are the days where you could only buy lashes for €14 plus! Lash quality has really improved in the last 10 years. With Penneys individual lashes priced at €1.50 you can't go wrong. I normally stock up for my kit.
I have a hygiene bag in my kit that I have learnt how to minimise over the years. I still have wipes, moisturiser (one for controlling oil and for a dewy look) and a lip exfoliator. I recently met the founder of Moxiloves, the lovely Pamela Laird, who has created this super product. This is a cotton bud with eye makeup remover inside. So genius! It's fantastic if you have a mascara mishap or if you want to create the perfect sharp edge to your feline flick. I don't know how I survived without it. A definite must have, available in pharmacys and pennys nationwide.
